Toys Worth Keeping
Kaboo Kids exists because of a small, stubborn belief: a good toy should outlast the birthday it arrived for. Not the plastic thing that lights up, gets loved for a weekend and spends the next decade in a cupboard — the wooden set that comes out again and again, gets handed to a younger cousin, and still works.
So that is what we stock. Wooden, magnetic and open-ended educational toys, chosen one at a time, for South African families.
What We Look For
We are a small team, which means we get to be fussy. Every toy has to earn its place by answering three questions.
Will it last?
Solid wood rather than veneer. Magnets that stay seated. Finishes that survive a toddler, a garden and the occasional bath. If we do not think it will still be in one piece in three years, we do not list it.
Is it safe?
Age-appropriate piece sizes, smooth edges, and non-toxic paints and finishes. Every listing carries its age guidance clearly, because a brilliant toy for a six-year-old can be a genuine hazard for a one-year-old.
Does it leave room for the child?
This is the one we care about most. We would rather sell a set of blocks that can be a castle, a bridge, a garage and a tower than a toy that does one clever trick and nothing else. Open-ended play is where the real thinking happens — the building, the knocking down, the trying again.
Play That Teaches Quietly
Much of our range is educational without ever announcing it. Stacking and balancing build spatial reasoning. Sorting by colour and shape builds early maths. Marble runs teach cause and effect, and a surprising amount of patience. Children do not experience any of this as learning — which is rather the point.

Every order is packed by hand at our warehouse in Mount Edgecombe, Durban, and delivered door-to-door anywhere in South Africa.
