Onshine Colorful Magnetic Tiles – 32 Piece Starter Set

Description

Flat shapes, three-dimensional results

Magnetic tiles are the rare toy a three-year-old and a nine-year-old will fight over for completely different reasons. The younger one likes the snap. The older one is building a geodesic dome.

32 pieces is the starter set — enough for real structures, and the size to buy first if you are not sure yet.

What’s in the box

• 32 magnetic building tiles
• Assorted squares and triangles in translucent colours

What it builds

The leap from 2D to 3D — understanding that six squares make a cube is a real spatial insight, and tiles make it physical. Also symmetry, faces and edges, and structural thinking about what will hold its own weight.

Hold them up to a window. The colour mixing where tiles overlap is a lesson nobody has to teach.

Ages

From 3 years and genuinely useful to about ten.

Safety and materials

ABS with magnets fully sealed inside each tile — the single most important safety feature in any magnetic toy. Check tiles regularly and remove any that crack. Not suitable for children under 3. Follow the age warning on the box.

Looking after it

Wipe with a damp cloth. Keep away from phones, cards and anything else that objects to magnets.
