What it builds

Big, sustained, co-operative pretend play — the kind where children assign each other roles and then argue productively about them. Setting up camp is a real sequencing task, and cooking imaginary fish over an imaginary fire involves more planning than it appears to.

The tent doubles as a quiet retreat, which some children need far more than another toy.

Non-toxic plastic, fabric tent with flexible pop-up frame. Contains small parts — not suitable for children under 3. Adults should assemble and collapse the tent. Keep away from real heat sources. Follow the age warning on the box.

Looking after it

Wipe pieces with a damp cloth. The tent folds into its bag — there is a knack to it, and the instructions are worth reading once.
